For many Goodman heating and cooling products, the first four serial digits use YYMM: two digits for the year followed by two for the month. Read the equipment serial, not the serial on a replacement compressor.

A month must be between 01 and 12. Letters or a different arrangement can indicate another product family; do not force that serial into this numeric format.

Some packaged terminal air conditioners use another format. A manufacture date also differs from the installation date used for warranty coverage.
