Haier is a Chinese appliance group that grew out of an older state-owned refrigerator factory in Qingdao and was set up under Zhang Ruimin in 1984. It entered the US market in 1999 with compact refrigerators and wine coolers, and since buying GE Appliances in 2016 it markets Haier-branded appliances in North America through that business.
