Kenmore is a brand created by Sears whose appliances have always been built under contract by outside manufacturers such as Whirlpool, LG, Electrolux, Panasonic and Samsung. Since Sears' bankruptcy the brand belongs to Transformco, and in Canada it largely disappeared after Sears Canada closed in 2018.

Kenmore appliances were made under contract by other companies, including Whirlpool, LG, Electrolux (Frigidaire), Panasonic, Samsung and Winia. On Sears-era models, the digits before the period in the model number (the 'source code') identify which company built the unit.

• 1913: Sears put the Kenmore name on a sewing machine, the brand's first product.
• 2017: Sears ended its long Kenmore supply relationship with Whirlpool, which had lasted about a century.
• 2018: Sears Canada closed, removing Kenmore from most Canadian stores; warranty service continued through Whirlpool.
• 2018: Sears Holdings filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection on October 15.
• 2019: Transformco bought the Sears assets, including the Kenmore brand.
• 2024: Kenmore announced limited sales in Canada through Costco Canada.
